End sleeves

End sleeves The main function of an end sleeve (ferrule) is to collect all the strands of the cable, which will then be inserted into the connection point - without missing any strands. End sleeves are to be used on high strandrd cables with more than 7 strands.

To crimp insulated and un-insulated end sleeves the same crimping tools is used.

End sleeves from Abiko Norsk AS are UL listed.

The end sleeve cannot maintain a contact pressure over time (they are too thin) on their own, this must be done in the connection point. It is thus important that after collecting the strands in the end sleeve, to carefully follow the installation instructions for the device / component where the cable (with ferrule) must be installed.

There is not a general requirement that the crimping tool that crimp the ferrule should have a ratchet, but many companies and device manufacturers specify that tools with ratchets must be used anyway. In addition, some industries make internal industry standards that require crimping tools with ratchets all the same.
